The first round of the 500-level ATP-tournament in the capital of the United States made and early start on Sunday and continued yesterday. So far there has not been any special sensations in the main draw and players like Lleyton Hewitt, Mikhail Youzhny and Ernests Gulbis are through to the second round.

Gulbis survived a scare against the American Kevin Kim on Sunday. The youngster had to close it out with 6-3 in a deciding set since Kim converted all of his three break points to put the pressure back on the Latvian. Gulbis, who has had a rough year is still looking to win two matches in a row. Next up for the big server is Tomas Berdych, it shall be an interesting matchup.

The Legg mason tournament is filled out with a lot of superstars and Juan Martin Del Potro, Marin Cilic and Tommy Haas are among those players who enters the man stadium later on this night.
