Top seeds threathened - Early goodbye for Cilic

Both Tommy Haas and the title defender Juan Martin Del Potro had to play the whole distance to seal the deal in their second round matches. The German had troubles facing the good serving Canadian Frank Dancevic and Del Potro had to make a nice comeback after losing the first set against Yen Hsun Lu, Chinese Taipei.

But the most unexpected thing to happen on Tuesday was that the fifth seed Marin Cilic walked on a mine against qualifier Somdev Devvarman losing in straight sets. The Indian is now set for a third round clash against the winner of Ivo Karlovic-Rainer Schuettler. My guess is that Karlovic makes the process short against the German who has played pretty bad the last couple of months.

Unfortunately my favourite Ernests Gulbis wasn't able to win back-to-back matches this week either. The Czech Tomas Berdych was to tough for the Latvian and closed it out in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6(6). I hope that Gulbis can reload his batteries and return in great shape when it's time for the Rogers Cup in Montreal next week.
